Braw Puppy Terms and Conditions

Owners are responsible for the behaviour and control of their dog in classes, walks, workshops or 1-2-1 consultations. If a dog is known to be aggressive toward either dogs or people they will not be suitable for a class or group situation. I need to be informed of this prior to any bookings, including 1-2-1 consultations.

I reserve the right to request the removal of a dog from a class or group work if I do not feel it is suitable, judgement being based on the dog showing aggression or acting fearful. In either case I will suggest an alternative approach.

Owners are requested to follow my instructions regarding their dog. This is to ensure the safety of all dogs and humans.

I do not give refunds unless I cancel class or I feel a dog is unsuitable for a class or group situation. Please note: Refunds are at my discretion and will not be given if you sign up for a class and decide you don’t want to finish the course.

Payment for either Puppy School or Braw Puppy classes must be paid for in advance and a place on a course is not secure until payment has been received. 1-2-1 consultations are paid at the end of a consultation for which I currently charge £30 per hour (minimum charge will always be £30) plus 50p per mile for my travel if appropriate. If a client wishes to come to Galashiels and I deem this is suitable for training their dog, there will be no travel charge. Periods of less than an hour after the minimum charge will be charged in quarters: up to 15 minutes is £7.50; 15 to 30 minutes is £15.00; 30 to 45 minutes is £22.50; 45 to 60 minutes is £30.

I do not allow the following in classes or 1-2-1 consultations:
  • Head harnesses (Halti types) or any implements which work by pulling on a lead to turn a dog’s head or body
  • Flexi-leads or other types of extending leads
  • Rolled, prong, chain, spray or any other type of control collar
  • Slip leads or very short leads

While I always prefer a harness, which is a healthier option for a dog, a flat properly-fitted collar is acceptable. The collar should be tight enough not to slip over the head while loose enough to get two fingers between it and the dog’s neck.

I keep the information that you give me securely. You are entitled to know what information I hold on you and to amend or remove it entirely at any time. For more details see Holding Your Information.
Holding your information - Data Protection

Why I keep information about you
I keep records of who has contacted me and who I work with. I do this to comply with good practice and because it is a requirement of both my Puppy School franchise and as a practitioner of canine-behaviour management. I keep your information secure and confidential.

What kind of information I hold about my clients
The details I keep about individual people may vary, but categories include:
  • Your name
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address

  • Any issues you might have with your dog
  • The names and ages of your children
  • The name(s) of any other adult involved with your dog

How I use your information
I need your information so I am able to contact you, so I have some basic information about your dog, and so I know what type of service you have employed me to do. I also use it to remember what work was done during sessions and any information I’ve given you. It is also helpful for me to know who else lives with, or interacts with, your dog.

How I get information about you
I get information in the following ways:
  • Phone calls
  • Texts
  • Emails
  • Forms (enquiry and registration)
  • Puppy School (Puppy School forwards information you gave them when registering for a class. They do not share your information with anyone else).

Who I share your information with
I will never share your information with anyone else unless you request me to do so in writing.

Your right to control the information I keep on you
You have the right to ask for any information I hold on you to be deleted from my records, or to withdraw entirely from my Data List. This includes all correspondence, forms, photographs and personal information about you, your family and/or friends. If you want me to delete your files, amend or remove any information you have given me, or simply want to know what information I hold on you, all you have to do is put it in writing and send me an email with your request.
